As a student at UC Irvine, you may not realize that our campus is home to one of the most prestigious wine programs in the country. The University of California, Irvine's (UCI) Extension offers a comprehensive range of wine education courses and certifications, designed for both beginners and industry professionals alike.
Our wine program is led by expert instructors who have years of experience in the wine industry. They will guide you through the world of wine, covering topics such as wine production, wine business, and wine appreciation.
One of the unique aspects of our program is its focus on both the technical and business sides of wine production. You'll learn about the science behind winemaking, including grape cultivation, fermentation, and aging processes.
In addition to the technical aspects, you'll also gain insight into the business side of the industry, covering topics such as marketing, sales, and distribution.
Of course, no wine education would be complete without a deep understanding of wine appreciation. Our courses cover the basics of wine tasting, including how to identify different flavor profiles and aromas.
You'll also have the opportunity to participate in blind tastings, where you'll learn to identify wines based on their characteristics rather than their labels.
